BIGSOUND’s First Nations program just got even stronger. GOOLWAL GOOLWAL has expanded its 2026 lineup, adding ARIA-winning hip-hop crew 3%, legendary Songman Uncle Joe Geia, and an exclusive MOB CYPHER: Magandjin Edition featuring Nooky, Dallas Woods and a beat by trials.
Celebrating BIGSOUND’s 25th anniversary, GOOLWAL GOOLWAL once again puts Blak voices front and centre, with a packed program spanning live music, conversations, community events and cultural experiences. Uncle Joe Geia’s appearance is especially significant, with the revered artist performing as part of his final national tour after more than four decades of music.
The next generation also gets its spotlight, with Mushroom Group’s First Nations Pathway Program returning alongside a free Jarjum Sounds session hosted by Lucas Proudfoot, while First Nations artists open and close the conference through special Artists in Conversation sessions.
There’s even merch with purpose this year, with GOOLWAL GOOLWAL’s 2026 shirt supporting The Disappeared Project and Dhadjowa Foundation. With 12 per cent of the BIGSOUND 100 lineup identifying as Mob, this year’s festival is shaping up as one of the strongest celebrations of First Nations music and culture the event has delivered.
