MUTO - Through The Fog

By Angus Russell,

Kicking structure, genre and stereotype out the window, one of Sydney’s most promising producers MUTO, has delivered a brand new single Through The Fog.

We aren’t one to toot our own horn too much however there are those moments when you hear something truly original that make you really appreciate why you got into music in the first place. The productions of Sydney’s Northern Beaches beatmaker MUTO are the exact reminder of this.

We could go into more detail about how Flume and Odesza think he’s gonna be big, that Zan, Dom and Dave Ruby from Triple J have championed his previous singles and that FBi have added them both to rotation however in this instance, I just want you to listen to the music.

Through The Fog is an instrumental rollercoaster ride of percussion, bass lines and truly weird synthesizers, however despite its eclectic sounds and structure you can't help but just hit the repeat button. Accompaning the single is Lighter, a shmorgasboard of extensive percussion samples resulting in a B-Side that could well and truly cut through on its own accord.

In celebration of the release MUTO will be hosting a Single Launch at 107 Projects Art Rooftop, Redfern on December 14. The gig also marks the announcement of his signing with UNDR Ctrl booking agency, whose EMC showcase he is also performing at on Nov 30.
