Allday Speeding Tour - The Tivoli, Brisbane U18

Opening, Allday’s under 18s ‘Speeding’ Tour, at The Tivoli was Brissy’s own Mallrat. A super fun performance that made everyone feel welcome.

A half hour set was certainly not enough time to see this little pocket rocket. The relationship between her bubbly character, sweet dance moves and unique sound, ignited the atmosphere with exhilaration for the underage audience.

Making conversation, Mallrat wished the crowd luck with their exams and got everyone laughing in return – c’mon Grace, that’s not what we’re here for today!

Being in a room full of young people, it reminded me of my excited anticipation of underage events– not that long ago! It was always a thrill, as shows like this only come around every so often!

Nicole Millar was next up. She owned the stage with a graceful and energetic presence. She hyped up the crowd with her performance of “High”.

Japanese Wallpaper took over with some new songs and a rather relaxed set. There was a major surprise when Airling joined him to perform ‘Forces’.

A long wait was drawn to a close when Allday came on stage in full force. “Remember the kid you are” the lyrics from ‘Claude Monet’, bought back my inner kid, surrounded by others surely feeling the same way.

Hi-fives were thrown to punters and I’m sure at one point Allday almost became one of us – an extreme hi-five became a near loss to Allday’s sleeve, he recovered in fine form and continued the show to perfection.

‘Baby Spiders’ began to play, complete with enthusiastic audience’s participation. Mallrat emerged from back stage and joined in the chorus. What I witnessed was outstanding, these two are superstars! Their dance moves forming around one another was one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen.

Allday mixed up his set with both new and old hits, embracing the young crowd. The excitement of hundreds of fans filled The Tivoli!

I was more than impressed with the entire U18 show of Allday’s Speeding tour. The supports, the songs and the atmosphere was executed to absolute excellence. Allday has headed back to L.A. I will wait patiently in anticipation hoping to see his next killer performance….and hopefully Mallrat will be there too.
