CREATIVE CONVERSATIONS 069: GABRIEL PARIS ON ACCEPTING LOVE IN ANY FORM

Words by Brooklyn Gibbs.

Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Gabriel Paris has just cooked up a new treat with his brother, Xavier Dunn. Futuremag Music caught up with Gabriel following the release of his latest single, Love Me Like.

FMM: Congrats on your latest release! How did you celebrate?

GABRIEL: Nothing crazy, just a few drinks with some friends and an early night!

FMM: One of the lyrics in this song is, 'You can love me like I'm a fly on the wall.' What's the story of this song and what inspired it?

GABRIEL: That line in particular is one of my favourites! The song in general is about accepting someone's love in any form that they are able to show it. There's no 'right way' to love someone and everyone will show it a little differently. That line is just about being open to it.

FMM: You wrote this track with your brother Xavier Dunn. What was it like professionally working with a sibling?

GABRIEL: I would have assumed it would be strange or at least a little bumpy, but writing this song with Xav was so easy and he's obviously an incredible producer, so that came fairly quick! He's insanely busy, so I was very lucky to be able to have an opportunity to create something meaningful and lasting with him.

FMM: I love your sick dance moves in the Spotify visuals that come along with this release. It also looks like you had a lot of fun with the photography and other visuals for Love Me Like. Does this mean a music video will be coming out soon?

GABRIEL: There will be some very fun visualiser/lyric videos in the near future! There's been a lot of love for the song so far, so I'm excited to deliver more content for people to enjoy! I also get a chance to show off some more of my dancing skills.

FMM: What's next for you? I see you have a lot of things going on with playing guitar to support other artists, etc, which we love to see. Is this something you will be doing more of? Or more solo releases? Or a little mixture of both?

GABRIEL: Up next is always more music. We've been preparing for what seems like forever for a string of releases, so there'll be some more music that I've worked on with some other incredible producers and writers on very soon! I'll also be focusing on playing more of my own shows, I'll be opening for Imogen Clark on the 9th of July!
