Emanate x Yunizon Interview - Saavan Announces Remix Competition

We caught up with Jimi Frew the Co-Founder of music tech start up Emanate, and David Ohayon from independent label Yunizon to chat about the shifts in music technology and it’s relationship with labels. We also have the pleasure of announcing French duo Saavan’s remix competition hosted on Emanate.

Futuremag Music: Jimi, could you talk us through the current state of music technology and how Emanate fits into the landscape?

Jimi: The current state of music technology is all about streaming. The great news is it's injected a much needed cash flow back in the industry, but honestly its most fruitful for the major players.  This is undoubtedly frustrating for the emerging/independent artists and labels or those who find themselves struggling to find market share.

Our mission with Emanate is evolve the space,  provide a networking market place which simplifies and automates music business.

It’s a work in progress, but we’re proud to have the first evolution of Emanate.live (alpha) and showcase the following:

  • Instant payments:  Anyone, anywhere, can receive fee-less payments every six seconds their audio is consumed on Emanate.

  • Simplifying contracts:  Automated digital contracts, executed by computer code. Splitting payments to rights holders in real time.

  • Smart-Collaborations: Provide our users and rights holders with a transparent, trusted environment to collaborate in.

As we evolve towards our beta platform we’ll focus on:

  • One Place: To store, publish and register and share your audio IP.

  • More Monetisation Opportunity: For both music lovers/listeners and artists.

Imagine getting a share of the income for the streams that pass through the playlists you’ve created. Being rewarded to promote your favourite songs or artists.  Offering sample and remix packs to the Emanate community and splitting the income for derivative works created. Absolute game-changer right!? This really isn’t that far away.

Futuremag Music: David, how does Yunizon capitalise on services offered by emanate? How do you see label and technological processes proceeding in the future?

David: What we love about Emanate is the automated nature of the payments and contracts on the platform. It’s set to ease the headache and confusion of manual account reporting and payments. It’s just more accurate and efficient. For us, Emanate and its technology feels like a piece that has been missing in the music business and industry.

Thanks to them, we see new opportunities for the future of music. Emanate Alpha platforms have been designed by artists, for artists. And, this is why we love Emanate: they care about what matters.

I am quite confident about the fact that Emanate’s unique technology will allow labels and industry’ peoples to make their work fun and less time-consuming is the near future. Emanate have this mission to bring win-win and trustful relationships between labels and artists. It is a good time to invest in solutions such as Emanate Alpha that craft a better world.

Futuremag Music: Recently Yunizon artist, Saavan announced a remix competition on Emanate. For those unfamiliar, how does the remix competition work?

Jimi: Saavan have been impressed by Emanate vision and technology. For the release of their EP ‘Observatory’, they decided to move a remix contest of their track ‘In My Head’ in collaboration with Emanate. We had a great time preparing for the contest alongside hard-dedicated and passionate teams.

David: To enter the remix contest: It’s easy! Head to http://remix.emanate.live read all about the prizes, and of course grab the parts! Once you’re happy with your entry you can submit it through the same page. We offer a cash prize of $330, in addition to Emanate Tokens (estimated at $420) to the 1st winner, with a professional and official release on our label, Yunizon, within the Saavan 3-track remix EP. Runners 2 and 3 will receive a bag of EMT platform tokens which will be used to unlock future features of the platform.

Jimi: All other remixers will have the ability to post their remixes on Youtube/Soundcloud.

Futuremag Music: Do you have any tips for aspiring entrants? What are some things you'll be looking for in the remix?

David: We love creators that are unique, passionate and deliver a high standard of work. We advise them to have fun, be themselves (work without artistics boundaries) and be proud of what they deliver.

Jimi: There are no bad remixes and we will have a great time to listen to them all. We can’t wait to hear everything that comes through!
