Melbourne house music producer, Luke Alessi just released slow burning two track EP, I Just Wanted To Tell You. The EP explores the delicate soundscapes of the traditional house genre while maintaining an innovative melodic presence.
The title track ‘I Just Wanted To Tell You’ surrounds itself with repetitive beats the drive along with a hypnotic vocal, and graceful piano. As the track progresses, the listener is teased with various arpeggiated synths before transforming into a spirituous ensemble that reveals itself in the chorus. ‘I Just Wanted To Tell You’ is a perfect representation of Luke Alessi’s skilled practice; one that adheres to traditional house conventions while also exploring a melodic narrative.
‘Moving On’ progresses the sonic story by crafting an iridescent tenor. Light chords, minimalistic uses of synths, and light ambient textures gently blanket the track. Like ‘I Just Wanted To Tell You’, the second single features ambient vocal cuts that blossom in the chorus.
With support from Solomun, Black Coffee, Cassian and RÜFÜS DU SOL already on the I Just Wanted To Tell You EP, it’s clear that Luke Alessi is one to watch. I’m keen to hear what’s next for ascending act!
