Extended Play 010: Henry Green - Half Light

Words by Luke Byatt

Bristol based musician Henry Green has been on our radar for a while now with a selection of releases from his Half Light LP. Now that the full album is out in the world, we’re once again transported into a world of sonic bliss.

Henry Green acts as a sonic deity over the nine track structure of Half Light. Through the careful construction of a soundscape filled with beauty and intricate design, the record is a transformative body of work. Henry Green has the mood attended to diligently, from grounded and tranquil scenes that cater to the most minute of senses, to the vast and lofty compositions that lifts listeners into another realm. Guest vocalists Andreya Triana and Ghostly Kisses grace Half Light, leaving their extra terrestrial touch on the sonic design. This external elegance enacts a sentiment of evolution to the overall album, propagating a flourishing ecosystem of sound. The culmination of breathtaking production, prosperous vocals and an enchanting atmosphere, yields in an outstanding album that is sure to turn heads.

Henry Green is a master of his craft and is undoubtably a mainstay in my personal listening collection.
