Extended Play 012: Kendl - Dreamlike
Words by Luke Byatt
Melbourne’s Kendl is a favourite of mine, and the release of his Dreamlike EP is everything I could’ve hoped for and much more.
We had a taste of the Dreamlike EP, with the release of ‘Turn’ earlier in the year; you can read our coverage of that HERE. The Dreamlike EP furthers the prosperous electronica established in ‘Turn’. Kendl has forged an album that is tender and introspective in its presentation and execution. Each of the three tracks deliver a somewhat heavenly and surreal experience as they ebb and flow. This fluid nature entrances a listener into a serene slumber, as they relinquish the stresses of life. Layer after layer of auditory aptitude are present with each listen to Dreamlike as Kendl’s sonic mastery continuously to reveals itself. I can safely say that I’m enamoured with Kendl’s catalogue, and the Dreamlike EP is a gorgeous addition to it.
I truely can’t wait for Kendl’s next release, in the meantime I’ll be digging deep into his discography.
