Extended Play 034: Kult Kyss - Ultra Sound

By Brooke Gibbs

Delve deep into a sonic journey of your heart and mind with Kult Kyss’ latest EP, Ultra Sound. The Melbourne duo’s latest project explores all aspects of their identity as artists, traversing between vibrant euphoria, dark introspection and dreamy nostalgia, immersing listeners in an expansive and multifaceted world.

The production throughout this six track EP is both retrospective and futuristic, melding influences such as 90s Garage beats with modern inspiration drawn from Progressive House, Trip Hop and Electronic Pop. Each track presents its own unique sound, and adds a whole new dimension to the EP, with collaborations from Motez, LUCIANBLOMKAMP, I Know Leopard and BRUX.

Ultra Sound delivers, serves and pleases as a multi-purpose playlist. It’s the kind of music you could dance to at the club with your pals, but it’s also the music you could have in the background at home while doing tasks. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t bopping out to ‘Blood Up’ and ‘Snacks’ while writing these words. Ultra Sound’s lead track, ‘Sugar Pill’, is the perfect psychedelic track to just vibe out to, and great news - it doesn’t stop there! The track is complemented with an equally mesmerising visual component, adding that final sweet touch to the pleasant mix.

Overall, I’d give this EP a crackin’ 8/10 and have already added it to a few of my playlists!
