Flight Facilities - An Aerial Aura

There's no secret that when Flight Facilities announce a tour, my inner fan boy emerges. After seeing the Sydney duo's 'The Return Flight' tour at The Triffid earlier this year, I was elated when pair announced their 'All Your Love' tour. Departing from Sydney in mid August, the tour graced Woolongong, Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane before arriving at NightQuarter on the Gold Coast.

Along for the ride was Brisbane based muso, The Kite String Tangle (TKST). The producer delivered a lush and varied set, performing fan favourite 'Arcadia', as well as pulled 'Selfish', 'Waiting' plus many more from his debut album. TKST delved into the hearts of early arrivers, as he laid the the foundations for the evening's exquisite electro.

The Gold Coast's diverse array of fans, aged 18 to 60+ huddled together as anticipation grew for Flight Facilities. With take off imminent, the lights dimmed. The crowd erupted, welcoming Flight Facilities to the stage. Within the opening moments, the pair established the set's journey through vibrant vistas, introspective elements, and exhilarating jubilance. In signature Flight Facilities style, the pair morphed house, ambience, techno, and pop with elegance and grace.

Owl Eyes' long awaited return to the stage with Flight Facilities was enthralling. Opening the sensuous set, Owl Eyes delivered a dazzling rendition of 'Need You', and 'Two Bodies'.  With each appearance, the Sydney based vocalist lifted NightQuarter to another elevation. Owl Eyes moulded the crowed into a euphonic trance as 'Clair De Lune' reverberated through the venue. Flight Facilities second touring vocalist, Ric Rufio also returned in electrifying fashion, following his debut in 'The Return Flight' tour.  Jumping on stage, Ric performed 'Sunshine', before reappearing for a selection of sultry singles including, tour title track 'All Your Love'.  Towards the set's conclusion, the vocalists forged a divine duet for 'Stranded', flaunting their sensational stage control, and vigorous vocals.

A selection of interludes including, 'Dream In The Desert', 'Merimbula', 'Down To Earth', and a sprinkling of unreleased tunes embodied the soothing transitions between tracks, moods, and genres. Each aspect of Flight Facilities' succulent set culminated into an intoxicating concoction.

Flight Facilities closed out the 'All Your Love' tour with a personal touch. The pair thanked everyone coming out to see them perform, and gave shoutouts to punters who danced all night long, and hard core fans who dressed up in pilot attire. The duo's genuine nature shines in their down to earth attitude, and connection to fans.

Special thanks to Thinking Loud, and Team Leisurely for lining this up for us.
