Flight Facilities - Fund Raising and Fighting Fires
On Thursday November 21st beloved Sydney duo, Flight Facilities joined forces with Owl Eyes, Ric Rufio, Touch Sensitive, Jono Ma, and Lex Deluxe to raise money for the Rural Fire Service, who have been battling unprecedented catastrophic bushfires on the East Coast of Australia. Performing at Sydney’s Max Watts, the event raised over $52,000 for the relief effort, assisting communities affected by the fires. You can also assist by donating to the following organisations or directly to the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The charitable gig kicked off with three vivacious DJ sets from Lex Deluxe, Jono Ma and Touch Sensitive. Each audacious act fuelled fans with signature grooves, resulting in the hanger (floor) being filled for Flight Facilities’ ethereal set.
Debuting a brand new live show, Flight Facilities brought out all the stops. The invigorating set retains the best aspects of older shows, while also flaunting new and rejuvenated elements. The lush lighting displays and a superb sonic journey are “Better Than Ever”, pun very much intended. Owl Eyes and Ric Rufio’s re-introduction as live vocalists was a warm and familiar sensation, with the pair’s performances culminating into a fresh and exhilarating experience. Cult classic releases, ‘Crave You’, ‘Arty Boy’, ‘Foreign Language’, ‘Two Bodies’ among many others made an appearance within the set’s verdant vistas. I can safely say I wasn’t the only blurting out the lyrics for every song. More recent records such as the bubbly ‘Better Than Ever’, were also a hit with fans new and old. It wouldn’t be a Flight Facilities show without the fervent fans, who decked themselves out in merch, pilot hats, plus some outfitting themselves in full aerial attire.
Flight Facilities are at the top of their game, and are showing no signs of slowing down. Be sure to see them next time they’re in your vicinity.
