Future Focus 006: Enjoii, Dooqu, Vlossom, Ferdinand Weber

Words by Luke Byatt

Welcome to Future Focus an article series where we showcase some of the best music that’s on our radar. This week we have a deep cut from Polish producer Enjoii, a pop bop from Dooqu, a sophomore single from Vlossom, and a vibrant funk house release from Ferdinand Weber.

Enjoii - Vortex

Wave scene regular, Enjoii has graced our sound systems with, ‘Vortex’ a deep cutting piece of production.

‘Vortex’ expels attitude and determination to dominate the bass scene. Spirited synths and vivacious vocal cuts flood the soundscape as meaty sub bass and gritty beats ground the single. The delicate dance between light and dark is dismantled in dramatic fashion as ‘Vortex’ drops into the callous climax. Each element berates the other in a brutal clash. Enjoii employs a sturdy structure, defining the proxy war within governable bounds. This understanding the line between controlled chaos and disarray showcases the producer’s production prowess.

Dooqu - Help You (Feat. Silent Child)

Danish producer, Dooqu returns from a year long hiatus with ‘Help You' featuring the buoyant vocals of Silent Child.

'Help You’ is your quintessential electro pop tracks, but what sets it apart from its contemporaries is quality. Driving percussion cuts through a spacious soundscape before elevating to new heights with the introduction of lofty synths. Complimenting the prosperous production is the verdant vocals of Silent Child, who conveys an additional layer of divinity to an already impressive single. In a genre saturated by monotomy and uniformity, Dooqu has delivered a piece that is commercially viable while retaining charm and personality.

As an artist, I stand for that unique sound. I want to create that unique sound to let the listener have a unique emotional experience. This song is about a person in need of help, but they find it hard to accept help. Sometimes they need to help you first by accepting your help in the first place.
— Dooqu

Vlossom - Tabs

Aussie outfit, Vlossom (Nick Littlemore & Al Wright) have returned with ‘Tabs’, a euphoric follow up from their debut release, ‘Catch Your Breath’.

‘Tabs’ is a textural listening experience, fashioned to transport the participant to another plane of existence. The synergy between indie pop and lavish electronica is flaunted with exquisite intricacies. Vlossom have translated an undeniably intimate and profoundly spiritual endeavour, into an understandable and consumer palatable experience. The flavourful nature of ‘Tabs’ is a lush insight to the Vlossom and their forthcoming EP.

‘Tabs’ is about the human relationship with time and the ticking clocks of consciousness. Ride this song like a rocket ship into a kaleidoscopic world, take this journey from star to asteroid and beyond, come try the friendly skies...you are all invited.
— Nick Littlemore (Vlossom)
This song is a little glint we brought back from the realm. I think some things are lost in translation, so you need to sing about them - but when you’re in the moment you are them. Luckily that’s where music comes in, that’s what we can use to blur the lines between this reality and others. Some people like to dance, some people like to meditate, some people like ‘Tabs’.
— Al Wright (Vlossom)

Ferdinand Weber - All on You

Berlin and art are inseparable, so it’s clear that renown producer and DJ Ferinand Weber calls the city home. Weber’s newest single ‘All On You’ is a testament to the vibrant party scene and artistry that exudes from the German capital.

‘All On You’ is a playful house track that blends soulful samples of acclaimed American singer-songwriter Chaka Khan and rap trio De La Soul. Designed for the dance floor, Ferdinand Weber’s deep house production flirts with the funk centric samples and vivacious vocal cuts. The pure elation and cordial character of ‘All On You’ is perfect for a midnight groove or over a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Chaka Khan and Del La Soul’s music and I’m so excited to finally release my own version of their hit, ‘All Good.’
