Tek Genesis - Sequence 999

Sydney’s Tek Genesis has returned with ‘Sequence 999’ a phenomenal cut from his forthcoming EP.

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for the weird and wonderful side of bass music, and Tek Genesis ticks those boxes and more with ‘Sequence 999’. The record boasts contorted textures, barbaric beats and a murderous melody, which form an audacious onslaught. Although Tek Genesis practices in realm of hectic sonic profiles, ‘Sequence 999’s offers a sense of delicacy when digging deeper. With each subsequent listen the single isn’t an unruly affair, it’s a symphony of intricate sound design and engineering, executed with zealous intent.

Tek Genesis is criminally underrated, with his dedication to his craft being at the forefront of anything he undertakes.

‘Sequence 999’s scope is to capture the essence of old school rave music and push it into a modern bass track setting. A divided contrast between old school rave stabs & percussive garage polyrhythms against traditional distorted 808 patterns and driving baselines creates something oddly satisfying when put together.

Vinny Lunar - Cut Loose

Hailing from the Harbour city of Sydney, Vinny Lunar has released ‘Cut Loose’, a sensuous addition to his bolstering catalogue.

‘Cut Loose’ opens as your standard indie pop ballad as a soothing instrumental and vocal guides the listener into a gentle lull. Subverting expectations, Vinny Lunar shifts gear and redirects the record into an urban tinged exploration of anxieties. This rollercoaster of emotion is on full display throughout ‘Cut Loose’ as somber lyrics morph with a tender composition. This culminates into a deeply personal story that touches the soul of the listener.

Vinny Lunar is quickly cementing his way into my watch list, I can’t wait to hear what’s to come.

I was going through a highly chaotic period where I didn’t know what was up or down in my life. This track is an open confession of my pains.

Otherwise Fine x Gina Livia - High Hopes

Favourite sleepy banger creative duo, Otherwise Fine have teamed up with vocalist Gina Livia for ‘High Hopes’.

‘High Hopes’ is another divine addition to Otherwise Fine’s impressive catalogue. Their trademark of “sleepy banger” is captured within the opening moments of the record as Gina Livia’s heavenly lyricism and solace filled vocal performance blossoms within the soundscape. The comforting and warm nature of ‘High Hopes’ and to a larger extent, Otherwise Fine’s extended discography is comparable to the likes of ODEZSA, Kasbo and more. I invite you through the gateway of ‘High Hope’s and into Otherwise Fine’s vivid world of electronic music.

There’s a reason why Otherwise Fine are in my favourites list, and ‘High Hopes’ is a testament to that belief.

High Hopes is the story of the place you find yourself post breakup, where you realize the only thing which made the relationship work were the high hopes you had for each other.

AK Sports – A Flash Storm (And Then It Was Gone)

AK Sports is a figure who has always been at the forefront of eerie yet infectious house records. The release of ‘A Flash Storm (And Then It Was Gone)’ is no different.

‘A Flash Storm (And Then It Was Gone)’ captures the essence of a late night groover while also injecting a sense of spectral charisma. The record flutters as mystical melodies dance upon a bed of textural beats that reach out; inviting the listener into a trancelike state of euphoria. AK Sports has composed a slow burning six minute journey to become lost in. With each listen I’m drawn into a world of dance music that is introspective and profound.

I can’t wait to hear what AK Sports has in store for us in the future.
