PNK FME - Firing Rifle

The release of ‘Firing Rifle’ marks the only-escalating release schedule for Adelaide’s PNK FME.

‘Firing Rifle’ explores an individual’s interaction with the world while brandishing an internal numbness and missing sense of self. Through the use of barbarous soundscapes, ‘Firing Rifle’ is the iconography of concealed demons, as the warring parties of light and dark wage battle within the introspective arena of the mind. The single acts as a surrendering cry for help as PNK FME strips his fatigues and lays down his arms as a fusillade of antagonism assaults the senses.

‘Firing Rifle’ joins previously released singles ‘You Never Said’ and ‘Body Language’ within the five track structure of PNK FME’s forthcoming EP, I’ve Never Been Me. With a special guest set to be revealed as a feature, PNK FME’s debut body of work is set to make waves cross genre lines.

‘Firing Rifle’ is my explanation of my turmoils and things I face daily... things that no one feels as it’s mostly invisible. It is silent, it is scary, it is overwhelming, it is uncomfortable and it is fucked...

GVY - Fallout

Brisbane based artist, GVY impresses with his debut single ‘Fallout’.

‘Fallout’s melancholy essence seeps viscously into the cracks and crevices of your being. A spacious guitar, sweeping synths and minimal beat morph into a spacious soundscape pitted with penitence. Wandering this vista is GVY’s vocal performance, an affair filled with heartache as memoirs of better times dissolve into nihility. ‘Fallout’ is a sonic journey that’s certain to connect with suppressed memories of an ill fated relationship breakdown.

GVY is another serious contender coming from the river city; renown for producing some of the best Australian music.

I moved house a few weeks ago. With it, I was leaving the place where I had written all of my music from the past year. This is exactly how I wrote ‘Fallout’ late night last year, sitting on the floor of that same room with my guitar.

Halle Dot - Here With You

Sydney’s Halle Dot releases ‘Here With You’, a smokey and textured record.

‘Here With You’ is the ideography of a late night conversation with a lover during an imperfect period. The roomy melody flows through the vast composition as swooning saxophone, prosperous pianos and sensual vocals delicately fill the space. Grounding the record is a suave beat that compliments the sentiments of lush lyrics. Although a notion of tenderness is sprinkled throughout ‘Here With You’, the overall single emanates an aura of hope and growth.

Halle Dot has a knack of creating emotion resonance that sings to the soul.

‘Here With You’ explores the ups and downs of a relationship. It’s inspired by going through a rough patch with someone, but not wanting to give up. It’s about healing old wounds, and rejecting old, bad habits. It’s about hope.

BKLV - Maya

BKLV is back with ‘Maya’ an superb follow up to his debut release, ‘Lunar Dust’, which we covered, HERE.

‘Maya’ is another budding record from the propagating Wave movement in Australia. While retaining the core ethereal nature of the genre, BKLV injects his melodic flairs and glitch influences to great affect. The amalgamation of diverse sonic structures traverses the Wave spectrum and into the realm of intense sub bass territory of atmospheric IDM. While listening to ‘Maya’ back to back with ‘Lunar Dust’, it’s clear that BKLV is sowing the seeds for a delectable discography.

BKLV is an artist I’m keeping a close eye on as the domestic Wave scene continues to blossom.

‘Maya’ is an exploration in the ambient realm of wave music while incorporating some nice grooves and glitches from other styles of music that have been huge influences in my music journey. All the percussion sounds are foley which give it an organic feel and help the song move as it’s a super slow one

DWAM - Southside Jane

Buckle up because DWAM is going to take you on a wild ride with ‘Southside Jane’.

If ‘Southside Jane’ doesn’t induce your ultimate bass face, I’m not sure what will? The off kilter and leftfield production of the single is synonymous with DWAM’s overall catalogue. The influence of Drum & Bass, Dubstep, and Trap are all at the forefront of ‘Southside Jane’s murderous onslaught. Despite the multitude of heavy bass styles, DWAM synthesises a palatable production for any bass enthusiast.

DWAM expertly rides the line between blusterous bass and a sonic palette cleanser.
