THE LANSDOWNE, SYDNEY, FEB 9

On a warm Thursday night, we made our way to the Lansdowne for a night of friendship, fabulous artistry and flair. 

Creative genius Yorke blessed our eyes and ears as she brought her ten feet tall tour to Gadigal, taking along with her the astonishingly talented Sammi Constantine and Eluera. 

Kicking off the festivities for the night was a task that powerhouse Sammi Constantine took well within her stride, the queen laden in green, shot onto the stage like a firework full of energy and excitement. Sammi cracked into a broad range of her hits that highlight her ability to belt out absolutely killer pop ballads with the most heart touching lyrics and thought behind them. We couldn’t help but groove along to her newest release Dopamine! Post Dopamine, Sammi performed an equal parts chilling and astounding cover of Evanescence’s Bring me to life which we couldn’t help but shout in our best bogan shouting to scream back “can’t wake up!” at Sammi. If they weren’t fans prior, the audience were buzzing after watching the icon that is Sammi. Her vibe and passion was so infectious! 

Following the frenzy of fun Sammi provided, we were mingling in the crowd, making new friends and bumping into old ones, having deep and meaningful conversations while waiting for the next act. Waiting in the music purgatory is always fun and such a buzz. 

Next up was Eluera who is such an ethereal force, and also unintentionally one of the funniest people we have had the pleasure of watching. Her quick wit and quips between her songs were almost as entertaining as her performance itself. We loved the raw, authentic stories and emotions that Eluera is effortlessly projecting within her songs and writing. We feel a bit as though we are kindred spirits, even though we have never met. Margot Robbie was a highlight for us to watch live and a track that we will not be able to get out of our heads for a while. 

Post Eluera, it was time for the woman of the evening to take to the stage and we were very bloody excited.  Yorke was a vision of power and grace as she whirled around the stage with her melodic harmonies that enchanted all who had the opportunity to listen. Highlights of Yorke’s set for us was an unreleased track, entitled Your fave flowers. It’s rare to be able to feel goosebumps all over your body, yet have a smirk plastered on your face for an entire song, yet Yorke easily made this happen.

Yorke also was able to show off her storytelling prowess with a lovely track sung as a duet, laundry mat. We were also awestruck with the track with the same name as the tour itself - ten feet tall. Yorke described this song as the one that took the longest to get right, as there was so much weight behind it. Yorke uses this track as an opportunity to explore mental health in a way that feels both extremely comforting and empathetic. Yorke has put in the time to create such a personal track, with a universal sentiment and appeal. We couldn’t help but sway and feel a wide range of emotions throughout the killer set. 

Yorke puts a lot of thought and effort into all her outputs and her performance was no different. Through watching her, we felt like we were transported to the Yorke universe.  Another thing we loved about the set was that Yorke also looked like she was having the time of her life. Between songs, you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face, which was so infectious as we found ourselves doing the same thing. Her crowd banter was also super enticing; her fans were very connected and they lit up whenever Yorke graced them with her smile or eyeline. 

We were so lucky to get to experience such a range of emotions and opportunities to think deeper within a short span of a few hours within the Ten feet tall tour. We cannot wait to experience these artists again and absolutely implore you to see them live if given the opportunity.
