EXTENDED PLAY 077: KENI TITUS | JULIET | EP REVIEW

Words by Zac Farr.

From cafe catch-up conversations to those late-night drive deep and meaningfuls, KENI TITUS welcomes us in like a bestie with her latest EP, juliet.

She guides us through the depths of evolving, told with seductive melodies and a heart-on-sleeve softness. As each song blends into each other, she uses a soft-pop, rock foundation to advocate for the tension between the head and the heart; a joyful melancholy.

Keni has this beautiful ability to mock meaningful situations while mirroring this notion of understanding dynamics within a relationship and how the physical and the emotional can be so easily manipulated, particularly in the track, take it off.

Harmonies on harmonies on harmonies are used to pull together these scattered ideas and concepts that seem accepted and unsettled. She welcomes us in to these complex situations where personal evolution doesn’t always match what the heart wants.

Something to believe leaves us with a bittersweet hope for finding a way to grow into the person we want and still give our people what they want. Sacrifice has to come from somewhere and Keni helps us weigh it all up in the most somber, yet beautiful ways. Keni, you crushed it!! A deep, inviting and intricate EP.
