Kilter - A Colourful Expedition
Sydney electronic music producer Kilter shows no slowing down for 2019, with multiple hits under his belt and a national tour to compliment. The audacious act launched his SS19 tour with a home town show at Oxford Art Factory on the 7th of November. Supporting Kilter was deep house producer Self Tape and downtempo musician Luboku. In addition to the main line up, George Michelle, BRUX and Donatachi dawned the Gallery Bar for an etcetc records showcase.
Opening the evening was Self tape, who infused tenebrous rhythms with mello percussion; a perfect combination of chill house and downtempo beats. Showcasing his suave singles such as ‘Hanging Over You’, ‘Mexico’ and notably ‘Urban Vintage’, Self Tape created a beautiful composition that set the course for the night.
Following suit was Melbourne producer, Luboku. Placing the audience into a euphoric state, Luboku employed swooping vocals arrangements with harmonious pads. Standout singles ‘Forget’ 'Solar Flare’ and Without You’ saw Luboku flaunt his performance prowess as a chill house blanket wrapped haunting vocals with electronic guitar, and succulent synths. Coupled with a striking visual display, Luboku invited the audience on a journey of colour and sound.
With fervent anticipation, the home town audience grew in number. Kilter introduced his energetic set with ‘TMPR’, cementing the fast paced, and dynamic atmosphere. Fan favourites, ‘Count On Me’, ‘I Hear You’, and ‘Overdrive’ launched the crowd into a flurry. The live renditions of Kilter’s catalogue brandishes a unique charm. The zestful nature of the live show illustrates the artist’s dynamism and craftsmanship. Joining Kilter on stage included Lil Spacely performing their collaboration ‘C.A.C. (Catch A Case)’, along with Muki, who performed their catchy pop collaboration ‘No Time’. Kilter’s epic conclusion, ‘Fool For You’ closed out the night.
Kilter, Luboku, Self Tape, and the etcetc showcase invited the audience on a colourful expedition into light and sound. Kilter’s SS19 tour broadcasts the best of Kilter, while also allowing the next generation of artist a foothold into the live space.
