EXTENDED PLAY 053: PEACH PRC TAKES OVER THE WORLD IN 'MANIC DREAM PIXIE' EP

Words by Justin Pix.

Glistening at every corner, Peach PRC is a masterclass of iridescent vocals meeting the unforgettable and electrifying pink and blue Y2K aesthetic. The infectious prowess of her ability to trance the listeners with her iconic 80s inspired, Y2K powered synth pop is the essential theme of her new EP Manic Dream Pixie. Her playful reflections on life experiences are evident in the lyrics, with shimmering songs that pack a punch.

Kinda Famous pens the EP, introducing the listener to Peach PRC’s pink world, echoing a similar vibrant, vocal-driven pre-chorus that is found in God Is A Freak. Its energetic, hyperpop beat drives us into the addicting Perfect For You, an enticing dance ballad, which boasts its iconic moment when Paris Hilton duetted with her on Tik Tok, cleverly reflecting the 2006 hit, Stars are Blind. We then focus our attention to the lead single from this EP, F U Goodbye, a freeing anthem embracing positivity in every corner of its punching rambunctious beats and vibrant dance-focused synth scapes.

“This track was about reclaiming my power over one of the most damaging experiences of my life - and putting the blame where it belongs. The verses sort of lull the perpetrator into a false sense of calm, but the chorus is me fully unleashing my rage and refusing to play the insipid little victim.”

Loved You Before carries us into the last leg of the project, with beautiful dynamic vocal performance closely matching the theme and soundscape of the more downtempo, Favourite Person. The EP closes with the emotionally charged, Dear Inner Child, a beautiful composition with Peach PRC's most daring vocals yet, tastefully using minimal instrumentation to prove her prowess as an artist.

Beautiful, infectious, demanding & reflective are the four pillar words to describe this debut EP from Peach PRC. It is a daring project that was well worth the wait. Colour me converted, I will gladly join this pink and iridescent world in which Peach calls home.
