PNK FME Interview - Visuals Amplify Sounds

We caught up with Adelaide producer and vocalist, PNK FME. Over the past 12 months, PNK FME has developed an extraordinary catalogue of achievements including being added to Spotify’s Pop Chillout playlist, containing over 1.2M followers and securing a South Australian Music Award nomination, plus sync deals with Mercedes Benz's Adelaide Fashion Festival, and the South Australian Tourism Commission. Most recently PNK FME headlined the City of Adelaide’s “Designed For Life” launch event where he performed for 600 delegates and officials. We caught up with Lachlan, the legend behind the PNK FME project to talk about his writing and production process, plus more.

Futuremag Music: Hey PNK FME, how's things?

PNK FME: Things have been great, just been doing my thing, I guess!

Futuremag Music: In your eyes, how important is the relationship between music and visuals?

PNK FME: To be honest, it has a massive role to play! Something visual brings what you are hearing to life essentially and to see a story truly expressed sonically and to have a visual just amplifies it out of this world.

Futuremag Music: Could you talk us through your studio set up? What are some of your favourite pieces of gear?

PNK FME: Ooooo this is a good question, because there are so many. I would have to say a few of them are my studio monitors and I absolutely love them, my new Nanoleaf lights are honestly amazing and mind blowing; I can’t believe I didn’t have a pair already as they transform the room. I also love my keyboard too, mainly because I adore playing keys.

Futuremag Music: You mentioned Nanoleaf? How does the interactive lighting impact your writing process?

PNK FME: A lot! It allows me to see how I am affecting a space visually from something sonically based and it can take you on an honest journey. Nanoleaf lights are amazing!

Futuremag Music: Talking about writing, what does the future hold for the PNK FME project?

PNK FME: A fair few are on their way to the big wide world in terms of songs and lately I have been writing from 100% truth which has been tough as it can be confronting. It has been the best change I have had in a while and cannot wait to share with everyone.
