VOE – Controlled Chaos EP
Adelaide duo, VOE have reinvigorated Australia’s standing in the heavy electro sphere with their Controlled Chaos EP, released via Global League. If you love Flux Pavilion, NERO, Skrillex, or Zeds Dead you’ll adore VOE’s beautifully brutal ensembles.
Controlled Chaos is the perfect mixture of ruthless breakdowns, vivid vocals, and melodic fluidity. Opening the EP is ‘Asking For It’, which blends elating hooks with riveting riffs. Following in a similar fashion is ‘Spotlight’, which is an absolute belter (that said, every track is in that realm). ‘Witching Hour’ ramps up the intensity, while retaining a dulcet overtone. ‘Trust Myself’ gradually draws the listener in with alluring vocals, before erupting into a grungy climax. Within ‘Broken’s opening moments it’s clear that the track is designed to be a thumper, so turn up your sound-system’s volume. Closing out Controlled Chaos is ‘So Cold’, with the track coincidently being a goose bump inducing experience.
I can say with certainty that VOE are producing the best DnB and dubstep that Australia has seen in recent years. I can’t wait to see where the pair end up going in the near future.
