INTO THE MOSH 087: NEPTUNE AND CHELSEA CUTLER | SYDNEY | REVIEW & PHOTO GALLERY

She showed us she is far more than a TikTok trend with depth, heart and a gratefulness for her people.

The Metro Theatres stage became a platform for the beautiful waltz of grand production and raw artistry. From the second the lights cut, we were immersed into the beautiful world of Chelsea Cutler. An ambience emerged that pulled our hearts’ attention to the pulsing of the speakers. We were drawn into the ecstatic feeling of being a part of something momentous.

Wrapping herself in baggy jerseys, she provides us with a spectacular juxtaposition of authenticity and a pretty much perfect performance. She mergers her charisma into soul wrenching songs. Her musical maturity shines through her versatility to play completely stripped back; simply her, a keyboard and a room full of a fan-tastic choir while also paying homage to her EDM roots allowing for her to create a perfect soundscape of a set list.

In the current musical landscape we find ourselves in with TikTok, streams and data heavily influencing the industry, Chelsea is a sign of hope. She is a true creative, whom has surrounded herself with the right people and has protected her artistry, yet utilised the change. This is evident in the vulnerability she welcomes both in her record and on stage where struggles, joys, rawness and heartache are shared in a lyrical and melodic medium that makes you feel like best friends. It is the relational connection that I believe we need to see more of and Chelsea does with such grace and ease.

Witnessing Chelsea welcome up fan, Vanessa, to sing the Noah Kahan and Chelsea duet Crazier Things together, was magical. For an artist to not only share the stage, but support a younger musician and really, really back them, can’t do anything but make your heart happy and let me tell you, Vanessa crushed it! Collaborating is clearly another one of Chelsea’s special talents as she teased that her and Jeremy Zucker’s third work of art, Brent 3 is “in the works”. She shared special moment of songs such as You Were Good to Me and This is How You Fall in Love of their previous works that brought hands together, warm embraces and puddles of tears as she serenaded the Metro with her angelic tone.

Chelsea, thank you for making your way into a whole new hemisphere. We are grateful. I hope you felt the love.
