Factory - A Stunning Return
The second instalment of Factory at Foundry was the perfect fusion of a hazy, bubbly (literally) dream-state. Bubbles, balloons and beautiful holographic art transformed The Foundry into a snapshot of musical utopia. A danceroom filled with the sounds of the best of 2000’s pop; Beyoncé, Nicki and Britney may have been my guilty pleasure of the night, but the main attraction was the live music.
Opening the night’s festivities included local legends, Pink Matter with their forward-thinking sound design. The band’s lush stage presence was the perfect welcome to punters entering the venue. Fresh from Perth, Demon Days delivered their soulful electro pop. They may have been jet lagged, but their almost shoegazey beats filled the Foundry with electric energy. Both Pink Matter and Demon Days were the superb supports for Jesswar’s headline set. Brisbane’s rap royalty slammed a fierce live performance, one of the best I’ve seen since her set at the Mountain Goat Valley Crawl!
If Friday’s Factory at the Foundry was any indication of the talent coming out of Australian music right now, I’d definitely come along to the next one! Come say hi to me and the Factory crew at the next Factory set for May 18.
