Words by Luke Byatt
Welcome to Future Focus, an editorial series providing a personable glimpse into some of best music releasing in the scene. Future Focus 022 features the diverse and vibrant sounds of PNK FME, Kult Kyss and hyperforms.
PNK FME - Body Language
Our lad from Adelaide, PNK FME is back with ‘Body Language’ another sultry and dark R&B concoction.
With an unsettled aura and cyclical composition, ‘Body Language’ reflects the notion of repetitive self-sabotage and insecurities. Through moments of somber lyricism, inklings of self-realisation slice through the twisted veil, revealing slivers of actuality. This juxtaposition between an impaired perspective and authentic reality is a demonstration of the daily battle with mental health that affects millions around the world.
With a body of work on the way, the rest of PNK FME’s 2020 is set to be jam-packed with content and more music!
Kult Kyss - God Is A Bassline
Melbourne’s Kult Kyss have been a favourite of the Futuremag Music team since their emergence in 2016. Now the pair return with ‘God Is A Bassline’ a riveting evolution of their infectious sound.
Kult Kyss are an incredibly humble and endearing duo that know the way to my soul with their sensuous sonic. ‘God Is A Bassline’ is a prime example of the pair’s outstanding production and visceral vocals resulting in a track that is equally striking as it is inviting. Diverting from their celestial leaning sound design, ‘God Is A Bassline’ opts for a propulsive and avant-garde structure that taps into Techno and IDM.
Kult Kyss are undoubtably are one of the best acts to come out of Melbourne, and I can’t wait to hear what’s to come.
hyperforms - MOTION
Wave’s world wide influence has impacted Scandinavia, with Finnish producer hyperforms taking the reins with the release of ‘MOTION’.
The record is the epitome of the rapidly expanding Wave movement, where fluid melodies flirt with a progressive percussion. The continual movement in ‘MOTION’ is perfectly suited to the dance floor for any Wave, EDM, or progressive Trance show. Hyperforms’ has a proven track record, from amassing over 6.8M streams to selling out club shows across and filling festival dance floors across Europe and Russia.
‘MOTION’ is a continuation of hyperforms' lofty success and another quality record from Wave tastemakers, Liquid Ritual.
