JEFFE - Colourful Creativity
JEFFE returned to her home town, Brisbane for the epic final tour stop for the ‘Undecided’ east coast tour, supported by fellow local, Azura. The show was held at the river city’s quaint venue, The Milk Factory, for an intimate, warm and welcoming performance.
Opening the evening was the dreamy sounds of Azura, who enchanted the crowd with her sensuous sound. Transforming her live setup from a solo outfit, Azura invited a guitarist to share the stage. The ascending artist’s vocals were light and luminous, as delicate electronic tones danced through the venue. The enticing set was a range of originals from her recently released EP, Mars Violet. Azura’s rising presence in the Australian music scene shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s only a matter of time before she’s a household name.
JEFFE maintained the ethereal atmosphere as she entered the stage as a luminous ring of light surrounding her. A minor keyboard malfunction introduced the audience to JEFFE’s personable demeanour. While amending the issue, she joked around, and struck up conversations, making everyone feel comfortable. JEFFE’s powerhouse performance was packed with vivacious vocals, and prosperous production. JEFFE’s large vocal range and control was awe-inspiring! Between tracks, JEFFE further interacted with the crowd, and thanked everyone for their support, and praised Azura’s earlier performance. A stand out moment included ‘My Man’ which contained expansive harmonies and a buoyant beat. Another highlight is a song that has been stuck in my head, JEFFE’s live rendition of ‘Undecided’ elevates the track’s impressive aura and propels it ten fold. JEFFE’s down to earth aura combined with her colourful creativity positions the act as one of Australia’s next big exports.
Overall, this had to be one of my favourite gigs that I’ve been to in 2018. The two acts complimented each other lovely, setting the tone for the night and the whole event was warm and open-hearted which I really appreciated.
