PNK FME Interview - Interesting Changes

Meet Adelaide’s rising producer and vocalist, PNK FME (Pink Fame). PNK FME shot into Australia’s sound systems in 2018, with his primary focus on delivering introspective and abstract electro. We had a chat to Lachlan Turnock the man behind the PNK FME project about his writing process, recent SAM Award nomination, and much more.

Futuremag Music: Hey PNK FME, how's life down in Adelaide?

PNK FME: Yooooo, it’s been cold which is a plus cause I have been vibing it a lot! But all in all its been great!

Futuremag Music: Could you talk us through your production, and songwriting techniques? What goes into writing tracks like 'Tho' or 'Jaded'?

PNK FME: So I usually start with chords, then move onto drums, bass, and vocals. After that, I add “excitement” which makes the song that much better! That’s usually how I go about things, but for my track, ‘Tho’, I started with the beat. It just depends on my mood, the track’s timing etc. Every time I create new music, I have a story or something I want to share or get out.

Futuremag Music: Your single 'Tho' was featured in the Adelaide Fashion Festival. How does if feel to have your song featured in such an outstanding event in Adelaide and being involved in Australia's fashion realm?

PNK FME: To be honest it feels amazing! I absolutely love fashion and to be apart of something like this in my hometown is almost too good to be true. Down the track, I definitely want to develop and design some bespoke fashion range.

Futuremag Music: You've also been nominated for "Most Popular Electronic Artist" at the South Australian Music Awards. What does this achievement mean to you?

PNK FME: First and foremost it feels really good to be nominated, it’s a solid achievement of mine for sure.  If I won that’d be dope, but either way, just to be nominated is still something that’ll stay with me.

Futuremag Music: Where do you see the Adelaide music scene developing in the future?

PNK FME: To be honest it’s going somewhere quick! A lot of talent is here and it’s all emerging, so it’s really cool to be apart of that.

Futuremag Music: What does the future hold for the PNK FME project?

PNK FME: The future of PNK FME project has new music on it’s way.  I am currently going through some life changing events, so expect some interesting changes in the future for me with my sound.
